Who we are

Seiton is an offline-first home inventory app. It lets you map your home as a tree of places, record the items you keep in them, attach photos and custom fields, search everything, and optionally share and sync with your household. This policy explains what data Seiton handles and why.

Seiton is operated by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] ("we", "us"). For any question about this policy or your data, contact us at contact@seiton.app.

What data we collect

Most of your inventory lives on your own device. We handle the following categories of data:

Inventory content you enter: the places (rooms, containers) and items you create, along with quantities, barcodes, tags and any custom fields you define.

Photos of your items that you choose to attach. When sync is enabled these are uploaded to our own servers.

Your email address, used to sign you in with an emailed one-time code.

Household membership: who you invite into a shared house, so members can see the same inventory.

Subscription status if you buy Premium. Payment card details are handled entirely by Stripe and never reach Seiton's servers.

You can use the core app without an account. An email address, cloud storage of photos, sharing and sync only come into play when you sign in and turn those features on.

How we use your data

To provide the app: storing your inventory, showing your photos, and letting you search and organize your home.

To sign you in and keep your account secure, using your email address and one-time codes.

To sync your inventory across your devices and share it with the household members you invite.

To run the optional "describe item from photos" feature, which sends the photos you select, along with the tags you have already created, to a third-party AI provider to suggest a title, description and tags it can reuse.

To process Premium subscriptions through Stripe.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use your inventory or photos for advertising.

Third parties we share data with

We share data with a small set of service providers only as needed to run the features above:

Anthropic (AI provider). If you use the optional "describe item from photos" feature, the photos you select for that action, along with your existing tags, are sent to Anthropic to generate a suggested title, description and tags. This only happens when you explicitly ask for a suggestion; nothing is sent to Anthropic otherwise.

Stripe (payments). If you subscribe to Premium, Stripe processes your payment. Your card details are entered with and held by Stripe; Seiton receives only your subscription status, never your full card number.

Each provider handles your data under its own terms and privacy policy. We may also disclose data where required by law.

Where your files are stored

Your inventory data lives on your device first. When you enable sync, item photos are uploaded to and stored on our own servers so they can be shared across your devices and with your household. The exact storage location and hosting region are set by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] and can be provided on request.

Data retention

We keep your account data and synced content for as long as your account is active. If you delete an item, a photo or your account, we remove the associated data from our systems within [RETENTION PERIOD]. Photos sent to Anthropic for a description are processed to generate the suggestion and are subject to Anthropic's own retention terms; Stripe retains payment records as required for its service and by law.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data. Seiton includes:

Export and import: you can export your inventory and bring it back in, so your data stays portable.

Deletion: you can delete items, photos and your account. Contact us at contact@seiton.app if you need help removing your data.

To exercise any right, email us at contact@seiton.app. Additional rights may apply under the laws of [JURISDICTION].

Household sharing

When you invite people into a house, the inventory in that house including its items and photos becomes visible to those members. Only invite people you trust with that content. Removing a member stops their future access to the shared house, though data already synced to their device may remain there.

Children's data

Seiton is not directed at children and is not intended for use by children under the age required in [JURISDICTION]. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact contact@seiton.app and we will delete it.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including access controls on our storage and encrypted connections for sync. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above, and if the changes are material we will notify you in the app before they take effect.
